Mac Northeast

My name is Mac Northeast, I serve as Chair of the Tamar Valley Steiner School Board.
My wife and I have two children currently attending the school and our eldest has now graduated and is now a part of the workforce.
Alongside my role at the school, I am a Leading Firefighter with the Tasmania Fire Service. I am deeply committed to service and community, values that I bring to my leadership and involvement in the school.

Karina Stojansek
Karina currently holds the position of Treasurer on the School Board.

Karina is the longest serving member of our School Board, having been re-elected in 2019 for a further 3 year term.
She has been involved with the Launceston Friends of Steiner Inc playgroup for over 10 years, since her first child was 6 months old. She served on the committee for two years and believes passionately in Steiner Education, incorporating many Steiner philosophies into her everyday life.

Karina is on, and has served on, several committees over the past 20 years in positions such as President, Treasurer and Secretary. With extensive senior management experience in small to medium business, most recently as General Manager of a state-wide training company, she is also a Councillor in the Launceston City Council.

Karina studied a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Tasmania and has skills in finance, human resource management and business operations. Karina has a passion for building community and believes strongly in the importance of family, health and living a sustainable lifestyle.

Michelle Stocks

Having recently retired from a leadership position at a local private school Michelle is interested in continuing to contribute to the provision of quality education in my home community. During her teaching career, she was fortunate to work in three states, across both the public and private educational sectors, which has enabled her to develop knowledge, skills and insights that is helpful in working on the TVSS Board.

Several of the schools that Michelle has worked in had very clear educational visions that were based on the holistic development of young people - socially, emotionally, and academically. The last school she worked at in Sydney was an International Baccalaureate school and its inquiry-based pedagogical approach and global outlook has some similarity to the Steiner philosophy.

Belinda Mathieson

I'm really excited to be involved with Tamar Valley Steiner School. I've had an interest and love of Steiner schools since I first went to Linuwel Steiner School in NSW for their community days.
I'm a local Mum, wife and teacher. I live north of Launceston with my husband Dave and 12yr old son Archie.  Dave and I grew up around Newcastle and moved to Hobart before settling in Launceston.
I've worked in multiple roles over the years supporting children in different parts of Australia and O/S and now I'm lucky enough to support students with additional needs at our local school.

I am a dedicated Mother of 4 daughters, all who have attended, or are still currently students at Tamar Valley Steiner School. I was a home-school educator to my eldest two daughters for 4 years before making our transition to TVSS in 2019.

I have been enthusiastically involved in our school community for the last 6 years, developing a unique understanding, and deep respect for the Steiner Education and its values. I am genuinely committed to providing conscientious advice, thorough oversight, and responsible governance as a member of the School Board.

My name is Jade Pirker, and I’ve been involved with Tamar Valley Steiner School since my child was two years old, initially through the delightful Rainbow Garden Playgroup, then through the school’s strategic planning and parent education sessions, and now as a school parent.

I joined the board in early 2025, having been inspired by the great work that has been and is being done to advance the school and bring a rich and rewarding Steiner education to our community. I believe that nurturing children to develop as their true and complete selves to lead meaningful lives of character, purpose, and contribution is a truly noble endeavour, and I feel privileged to support this through my role on the board. With tertiary qualifications in communications and land-use planning, I bring to the board a deep appreciation for the school’s values and a personal commitment to lifelong learning.
